Christopher Strachey

和北方香上圖書館借 Stoy 的《Denotational Semantics: the Scott-Strachey Approach to Programming Language Theory》，我已經看過好幾次推薦和引用了，包括 FLOLAC '08 的 Semantics 課程。（所以賭盤大概會急劇傾斜到 9 比 1 XD。）翻開一看嚇到，排版還是很古早的樣式，ragged-right justification and monospaced fonts！看到關鍵字 Oxford 頻頻出現，我才想到之前的確看過 denotational semantics 是從 Oxford 發源的。Strachey 是 Programming Research Group 的第一任 director。根據 Wikipedia，lvalue/rvalue 的型式化是他做的，Currying 這個詞也是他發明的，當然 denotational semantics 他是其中一位 founder。酷！
