First Day in UK

每次坐飛機，都會覺得模擬城市（SimCity）真是做得太逼真了。這次到倫敦更誇張，地形、房屋、海面的船隻，根本是照著模擬城市建出來的（沒辦法，我先看到的是 SimCity XD），只差沒依方格排列！

倫敦天氣很好，出太陽、13 度。我們從中央公車站坐公車到 Oxford。公車在高速公路上「逆向」行駛，兩邊的樹幾乎都掉光了葉子，不時可以看到一群牛羊吃草。這讓我想到 Bonjour 談 Gettier's problem 時用的一個例子：

Driving in the country, Alvin sees what looks like several sheep standing behind a fence beside the road and hence believes strongly that there are sheep in that field. In fact, there are sheep in the field in question, but they are out of sight behind a grove of trees, and the animals that Alvin sees are in fact large dogs bred and groomed so as to resemble sheep very closely. (Note carefully: the belief at issue is the general belief that there are sheep in the field in question, not the belief, which Alvin also has, that the particular animals he sees are sheep and are in the field.)

現在這個例子再自然不過了 XD。

公車進城，scm 老師向我介紹有名的景點。Oxford 有一大堆的古蹟，大學人員就在裡面活動。Oxford University 是由好多學院組成的，情況有點像霍格華茲。除了一般的系上開課以外，每個系的老師散布在各個學院，負責指導那個學院的系上學生，像家教一樣。感覺上是很棒（很操）的教學方式 XD。

我們住進 scm 老師朋友的家。到了這裡八卦滿天飛，我當然記不得全部，但最重要的一項大新聞就是 scm 老師要（消音）了！我們到附近一家 pub 吃晚餐，聽說 pub 在英國是正當場合 XD。可惜我食量太小，沒把正餐吃掉多少，真浪費啊… 回來之後，我們要把 scm 老師從台灣帶來的無線分享器裝好，變壓器的輸入電壓卻沒到 220V！於是我們在分享器的變壓器上接一個 220V 到 110V 的變壓器，再接一個轉接器。我插上去的時候出現一陣嗶啵聲，然後爆炸（i.e., 迸出火花與巨響），延長插座和中間那個變壓器就燒掉了… 晚上我和 scm 老師就睡在客廳兼書房的沙發上。睡得還算不錯。

今天要到 Oxford Brooks University（和 Oxford Univ. 沒有直接關係 XD）找 Sharon Curtis，晚上好像要吃某種正式晚餐。
